
The equity benchmark index, Nifty 50 saw modest gains in early trade, with the Nifty holding above the 26,100. IT stocks led the upward movement after slipping over the past two sessions, boosted by optimism surrounding potential Fed rate cuts.
Market breadth tilted negative, with 1,557 shares advancing against 2,193 declines on the BSE, while 192 stocks remained unchanged. The Nifty IT index jumped 1.50% to 37,437.10, bouncing back after a 0.43% decline over the previous two sessions.
By 10:30 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex climbed 157.14 points, or 0.18%, to 85,389.06, while the Nifty 50 rose 57.80 points, or 0.23%, to 26,127.25. In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index gained 0.21%, whereas the S&P BSE Small-Cap index slipped 0.41%.
