Mehli Mistry’s tenure as a Trustee of Tata Trusts concludes on October 28, while the formal process to extend his term is still underway, according to a CNBC-TV18 report. A long-time associate of Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata, Mistry joined the Board of Tata Trusts in 2022 following a significant restructuring of the organisation’s leadership structure.
As per the report, Tata Trusts last week initiated a circular resolution seeking unanimous approval from all trustees to reappoint Mistry for another term. The move is part of the governance process outlined by the Trusts, which collectively hold a majority stake in Tata Sons—the holding company of the Tata Group.

Sources indicate that while several trustees have already submitted their responses, a few are yet to do so. The voting process will continue until Tuesday as the Board works to ensure a seamless transition and avoid a temporary vacancy in the Trusts’ governing body.
