MakeMyTrip Ties Up with Zomato for 'Food on Train' Services

As per the PTI reports, MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel platform, has announced a partnership with Zomato to enhance the travel experience of rail passengers. Through this tie-up, travellers booking train tickets on the MakeMyTrip app will be able to pre-order meals from Zomato’s wide network of restaurant partners and have them delivered at their designated railway stations.
Expanding Food Options for Rail Travellers
With access to over 40,000 restaurant partners listed on Zomato, passengers will now have a greater choice of meals while travelling. The service will initially cover more than 130 railway stations across the country, making it one of the largest food-on-train initiatives available to Indian travellers.
The move is aimed at improving convenience and offering travellers better food quality compared to traditional catering options on trains.
Growing Demand for Train Catering Services
The timing of this partnership aligns with a sharp rise in demand for railway catering services. As per the news reports, in FY 2024-25, more than 90,000 passengers used Indian Railways’ e-catering services daily, reflecting a 66% year-on-year growth.
By tapping into this expanding segment, MakeMyTrip and Zomato are positioning themselves to capture a significant share of the rail catering market.
