Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd (MASPL) has been awarded a contract by Airbus Helicopters to manufacture the main fuselage of the H125, as per news reports. Work will begin immediately at MASPL’s facility in Bengaluru, and the first fuselage is expected to be delivered in 2027. Details of the financial terms have not been shared.

Second Airbus Contract in Five Months

As per news reports, this is the second contract Airbus has given MASPL in less than 5 months. In April 2025,  MASPL was selected to produce the fuselage for the H130 helicopter. With both agreements, the Indian supplier is now responsible for manufacturing fuselages for 2 Airbus single-engine helicopter models.

Helicopter Details

The H125 is one of the most widely used single-engine helicopters in the world. It is deployed for passenger transport, tourism, aerial work, rescue missions, law enforcement, and medical evacuation. Airbus has also indicated that the model built in India will meet some requirements of the armed forces.

Other Airbus initiatives in India

Airbus is setting up 2 Final Assembly Lines (FALs) in India in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. One will assemble H125 helicopters, while the other will handle the C295 military aircraft. Both projects are intended to add assembly and related processes to existing component production in the country.

Airbus Sourcing from India

As per news reports, Airbus currently sources components and services worth about $1.4 billion annually from India. The company has said the H125 assembly line is expected to open opportunities in areas such as helicopter emergency medical services, disaster management, law enforcement, and aerial work.
