Vehicle owners across India can settle minor traffic violations at reduced rates or get waivers during the National Lok Adalat on September 13, 2025. This initiative provides a significant opportunity to dispose of longstanding challans and reduce legal backlog.
The upcoming Lok Adalat will address minor traffic offences. These include driving without a seat belt, riding without a helmet, jumping red lights, and cases of overspeeding. Other violations covered are not having a valid PUC certificate, wrong parking, ignoring traffic signs, absence of a vehicle fitness certificate, no number plates, or driving in the wrong lane.
While Lok Adalat aims to offer leniency, serious violations are excluded. These include drunk driving, hit-and-run accidents, deaths caused by negligent driving, racing, or cases involving minors and vehicles used in criminal activity. Challans from court proceedings or those issued in other states will also not be considered.
To participate, applicants must register online via the official NALSA portal. After submitting the form and required vehicle documents, a token number and appointment letter will be issued. Individuals should carry these documents on the hearing day and arrive at least 1 hour before the scheduled time.
