In a significant shift within the tech industry, Kiran Mani has left his position as CEO-Digital at JioStar to take on the role of Managing Director for Asia Pacific at OpenAI, as per The Economic Times report.  

This move aligns with OpenAI's strategic efforts to amplify its presence in the rapidly growing AI markets of this region. 

Kiran Mani's New Role at OpenAI 

Kiran Mani will assume his new responsibilities at OpenAI in June, directing the company's strategy and operations across the Asia Pacific. Based out of Singapore, he will report directly to OpenAI's Chief Strategy Officer, Jason Kwon.  

This step highlights OpenAI's focus on leveraging the increasing adoption and integration of AI technologies in the region, particularly in major markets like India, Japan, and Indonesia. 

Transition from JioStar to OpenAI 

Mani's departure from JioStar comes after playing a crucial role in advancing the company's digital initiatives. He was pivotal in merging various platforms under JioHotstar, creating a significant hub for premium content and digital experiences.  

His leadership effectively combined content, technology, and monetisation strategies, transforming JioCinema into a leading platform in India's digital ecosystem.
