JSW Infrastructure Ltd has announced acquisition of a 51% share in an Oman-based port special purpose vehicle through its step-down subsidiary. The investment marks a key step in expanding the company’s international footprint and supporting a major minerals-linked port development initiative in the region.
Key Project Details
The acquisition involves JSW Overseas FZE subscribing to majority equity in South Minerals Port Company SAOC, a newly formed entity responsible for developing a 27 MTPA port in Oman.
The project carries a capital outlay of $419 million, with construction expected to run for 36 months before commercial operations begin in the first half of 2029. The port will handle industrial minerals, aligning with Oman’s plans to scale up downstream processing in the Dhofar region.
Strategic Outlook and Expansion
JSW Infrastructure highlighted that the Oman port opportunity aligns with its long-term plan to grow cargo-handling capacity to 400 MTPA by 2030. Leaders within the company noted that the move strengthens trade connectivity and supports diversified growth across maritime infrastructure.
They added that Oman’s coastal positioning and rich mineral base make it a favourable location for expanding international operations aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency.
