JSW Infrastructure Acquires Ballari Rail Siding for ₹57 Crore

JSW Infrastructure Limited has announced the acquisition of a brownfield rail siding in Kudathini, Ballari (Karnataka), through its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Port Logistics Private Limited.
Spanning over 86 acres and previously owned by Hothur Ispat Private Limited, the acquisition was completed for around ₹57 crore. This marks a significant milestone in JSW Infrastructure’s mission to build a pan-India logistics network and emerge as a leading integrated logistics player.
Development of Multi-Modal Logistics Park
The Kudathini siding will be transformed into a state-of-the-art Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP). Planned facilities include modern land infrastructure, advanced container handling systems, a Rail Freight Terminal (RFT), and a fully equipped Inland Container Depot (ICD).
Commercial operations are expected to begin within six months, followed by a phased scale-up. The total capital expenditure is estimated at ₹380 crore, which includes the acquisition cost, to be deployed over the coming years.
Enhancing Multimodal Connectivity
This acquisition aligns with JSW Infrastructure’s broader goal of strengthening multimodal connectivity through rail-linked terminals and container rail services across key industrial corridors. The company already operates rail-linked terminals in Panvel (Maharashtra) and Morbi (Gujarat), with another Gati Shakti Terminal under construction in Arakkonam, Chennai.
Strategic Location and Advantages
Situated close to JSW Steel’s flagship Vijayanagar plant and other JSW Group businesses in cement, paints, and energy, the Kudathini siding will facilitate efficient transportation of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
Its proximity to mining companies, iron ore processors, agri-product firms, and cement and chemical manufacturers creates immense potential to attract third-party cargo volumes.
Reducing Costs and Improving Efficiency
Currently, the Ballari region lacks a rail-linked ICD, forcing containerized EXIM cargo to be moved by road, leading to higher costs and inefficiencies. The new ICD is expected to significantly cut logistics expenses while offering customers a fully integrated solution.
JSW Infrastructure Share Price Performance
On September 12, 2025, JSW Infrastructure share price opened at ₹317.00, touching the day’s high at ₹317.85, as of 1:40 PM on the NSE.
