JSW Cement, part of the US$23 billion JSW Group, has commissioned a new state-of-the-art cement grinding unit in Sambalpur, Odisha, through its majority-owned subsidiary Shiva Cement.
The facility, funded and supervised by Shiva Cement in collaboration with Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL), has a capacity of 1.0 MTPA exclusively for Shiva Cement’s consumption.
The new unit is strategically located near the borders of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, ensuring proximity to essential raw materials. This expansion aligns with JSW Cement’s strategy to strengthen its market presence in eastern India and meet growing regional demand.
With this addition, JSW Cement’s total installed capacity across all subsidiaries rises to 21.6 MTPA. The company is progressing with its approved expansion program to achieve a pan-India presence with 41.85 MTPA grinding capacity and 13.04 MTPA clinker capacity. The Nagaur integrated unit in Rajasthan, featuring 3.30 MTPA clinker and 3.5 MTPA grinding capacity, is on track for commissioning as planned.
JSW Cement continues to maintain one of the lowest carbon dioxide emission intensities in the industry, recording 277 kg CO2 per ton of cementitious material in Q1 FY26.
Announcing this here today, Mr. Nilesh Narwekar, Chief Executive Officer, JSW Cement, said, “The eastern region of the country is poised for exponential growth in the coming years. With rapid expansion in the manufacturing and infrastructure sector in the state, Odisha is playing a key role in the industrial and economic growth in the region. This new state-of-the-art facility in Sambalpur, therefore, is a strategic initiative by JSW Cement and marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand and consolidate our position in this market. The world class unit will further consolidate and expand the eco-friendly footprint of JSW Cement.”
On October 8, 2025, JSW Cement share price (NSE: JSWCEMENT) opened at ₹139.74, touching the day’s low at ₹139.30, as of 11:14 AM on the NSE.
