The JioStar Group has appointed Emmy Award winner Stephan Bugaj as senior vice-president for GenAI content and technology, as per PTI reports.

The role will cover artificial intelligence-led content systems and technology functions across JioStar’s platforms. No financial details related to the appointment were disclosed.

Experience Across Media and Technology

Bugaj has over 30 years of experience in animation, gaming and technology-driven media. He has previously held senior positions at Pixar Animation Studios, Telltale Games, DJ2 Entertainment and Hanson Robotics.

His work has largely focused on combining software systems with storytelling formats, particularly in digital and interactive environments.

Across these roles, he has been involved in projects spanning animation, interactive narratives and emerging media formats. His career has centred on adapting new technologies for use in large-scale content production.

Previous Role at Genvid Entertainment

Before joining JioStar, Bugaj was chief creative officer at Genvid Entertainment. During his tenure, he worked on the development of the Massively Interactive Live Event (MILE) format.

The format combines live video streaming, gaming elements and audience participation, allowing viewers to influence storylines as content unfolds.

At Genvid, Bugaj was also involved in the development of AI-based creative tools aimed at filmmakers and production teams. These tools were designed to support real-time engagement and interactive storytelling.

JioStar’s AI Initiatives

JioStar said the appointment supports its efforts to expand the use of artificial intelligence across its platforms. The group is currently deploying AI-powered features, including conversational interfaces, second-screen functions and AI-assisted tools for content creation.

According to the company, these systems are intended to streamline production workflows and support the development of new digital formats.
