Reliance Jio is extending its focus beyond 5G, with increased efforts in artificial intelligence and next-generation communication technologies. According to the FY25 annual report by Reliance Industries, Jio is deploying its in-house AI platform, JioBrain, across operations such as network planning, maintenance, resource optimisation, and customer service.

The platform will also be scaled for industrial and international use.

AI Deployment to Support Digital Expansion

JioBrain forms part of the company’s digital strategy. Jio’s digital services business reported revenue of ₹1,54,119 crore in FY25, with an EBITDA of ₹65,001 crore. The company is integrating AI tools to support subscriber growth, improve operational efficiency, and expand services across consumer and enterprise segments.

It also plans to collaborate with global partners to reduce AI operating costs in India.

6G Development and Patent Portfolio

Jio is actively engaged in the research and development of 6G technologies. As of March 2025, the company had filed 3,341 patents in total, with 1,654 filed in FY25 alone. It was granted 154 patents during the same year, and currently holds 485 patents, positioning it as one of India’s largest holders of 5G and 6G-related intellectual property.

Subscriber Base and Broadband Reach

Jio reported a 25% year-on-year increase in net profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2025. Revenue from operations rose 19% to ₹35,032 crore, with ARPU increasing to ₹208.8. The total wireless broadband user base stands at over 488 million, of which 191 million are on 5G. JioFiber has reached 18 million households, while JioAirFiber is connected to nearly 6 million homes.

Satellite Internet and Global Connectivity

As per news reports, Jio is building a satellite communication platform in partnership with SpaceX to offer Starlink broadband services in India. The company is also looking to scale its indigenously developed technologies to international markets, including its digital platforms and fixed wireless access networks, which are targeting 100 million connected premises.
