Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited (JPVL) has informed the exchanges that its Board of Directors, at a meeting held on 27 August 2025, considered a proposal to explore options for establishing a solar PV power project. The move signals the company’s intent to expand into renewable energy while leveraging its existing infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh.
The proposal involves setting up a 50 MW solar PV power plant at the company’s existing 500 MW Jaypee Bina Thermal Power Plant (JBTTP) site in Bina, Madhya Pradesh. The estimated investment for the project is ₹300 crore, and the initiative remains subject to obtaining the required approvals, including from lenders.
The plan represents a significant step for JPVL in aligning its energy portfolio with India’s renewable energy ambitions. By exploring a solar project within the premises of an operational thermal facility, the company is positioning itself to diversify power generation capacity while optimising resources at its established site.
JP Power posted Q1FY26 total income of ₹1630.88 crore, down 12.5% QoQ and 8.3% YoY. Profit before tax fell 20.7% QoQ to ₹434.81 crore and 26% YoY, with tax expense rising to ₹156.68 crore versus a credit last quarter.
Net profit dropped to ₹278.13 crore, 52.8% lower QoQ and 20.2% YoY, while EPS declined to ₹0.30 from ₹0.70 in Q4FY25 and ₹0.40 a year ago. Expenses rose to ₹1196.07 crore, up 18.1% sequentially and 0.4% YoY, reflecting cost pressures amid shrinking revenues.

As of August 28, 2025, at 10:AM, Jaiprakash Power Ventures share price is trading at ₹18.95 per share, reflecting a surge of 5% from the previous closing price. Over the past month, the stock has declined by 7.15%.
