ITC Ltd.’s Sunrise Spices division has announced a major community health and food safety initiative targeting women and food handlers across several states. The development comes as ITC share price remained stable during the trading session.
ITC’s Sunrise Spices unveiled the Sunrise Swasthya Pradesh Programme, a CSR initiative aimed at enhancing food safety awareness and community well-being. The programme will reach over 1.5 million women and certify more than 11,000 caterers and street food vendors.
The initiative aligns with ITC’s broader nutrition strategy, focusing on strengthening safe food practices at the household and community levels. It is expected to benefit consumers during high-demand periods such as weddings and festive seasons.
Implemented in partnership with the Rajabazar Education and Awareness Development Society (READS), the programme will span West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and Andhra Pradesh. It will equip communities with tools and knowledge to detect adulteration and adopt safer food habits.
Women in West Bengal will receive FSSAI’s DART booklet, awareness materials and access to adulteration testing kits. Community-led activities, including health camps and haat engagements, will further support these efforts.
The launch event included participation from caterers, vendors and local women who discussed how the initiative may support healthier communities. The programme aims to create a network of informed food handlers who promote safe and hygienic practices in their regions.
ITC stated that the initiative is part of its ongoing commitment to improving nutrition, food safety and sustainable food systems under its “Help India Eat Better” strategy.
