Is July 7 a Holiday? Are Stock Markets, NSE, BSE, and Banks Closed?

Muharram, the Islamic New Year, is marked with reverence and mourning, especially on the 10th day of Ashura. In 2025, Ashura will be observed on July 6, which is a Sunday. Find out if banks and the stock market will be open on July 7, 2025.
Stock Markets NSE and BSE will be Open Tomorrow
In 2025, the first day of Muharram-Ul-Haram commenced on Friday, 27 June, with Ashura the 10th day of the Islamic month falling on Sunday, 6 July.
Ashura this year falls on Sunday, July 6, when stock markets are already closed by default. Since the religious observance does not coincide with a weekday, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain open tomorrow, July 7.
That means all segments of equity, derivatives, and currency will operate as usual.
What Time Does the Stock Market Open Tomorrow?
Expect the usual trading schedule:
- Pre-open session: 9:00 AM – 9:08 AM
- Regular trading: 9:15 AM – 3:30 PM
- Post-closing session: 3:40 PM – 4:00 PM
So, for traders and investors, it’s business as usual.
No Bank Holiday Either
According to the RBI’s official holiday list, banks will remain open on Monday, July 7, 2025. Since Ashura is on a Sunday, there's no spillover public holiday the following day.
Government offices, post offices, and schools across most states are also expected to function normally.
