
Stock Markets To Remain Closed On May 28
Indian stock exchanges, including:
will remain closed on Thursday, May 28, 2026, on account of Bakri Id (Eid al-Adha).
Trading across equity, derivatives, and currency segments will remain suspended for the entire day.
The markets will reopen on Friday, May 29.
This is the second stock market holiday in May 2026.
Earlier, exchanges were closed on May 1 for Maharashtra Day.
MCX To Operate Only In Evening Session
Multi Commodity Exchange of India will observe a partial holiday on May 28.
The evening trading session will continue until 11:30 PM or 11:55 PM depending on the commodity category.

Out of the total 16 market holidays in 2026, eight are still remaining.
Banks across most major Indian cities will also remain closed on May 28 for Bakri Id.
However, banks in:
are expected to remain open.
Additionally, some bank branches in cities such as Guwahati, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram are already closed on May 27 due to regional Bakrid observance.
NSE and BSE will remain closed on May 28 for Bakri Id, while MCX will reopen only for the evening session. Investors and traders should also note that the next stock market holiday will fall on June 26 for Muharram.
