Neptunus Power Plant Services Pvt Ltd has signed a strategic MoU with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) to pioneer indigenous marine engine condition-monitoring technology under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The agreement was formalised during Maritime India Week 2025, setting the stage for India’s next leap in maritime innovation.

Driving Digital Transformation in Maritime Maintenance

The collaboration between Neptunus and IRS aims to modernise India’s shipping ecosystem by introducing data-driven maintenance and digital diagnostics. As part of the initiative, the IRS granted Type Approval Certification for Neptunus’s two advanced systems, VIB 360, a marine engine condition-monitoring platform, and Torque Sense SHAPOLI, a propulsion system analytics solution.

This certification represents the world’s first recognition of indigenously developed, IRS-approved condition-monitoring systems for marine diesel engines and propulsion units. It highlights India’s growing capability to deliver export-ready, globally compliant maritime technologies rooted in domestic R&D and manufacturing.

Efficiency, Sustainability, and Cost Optimisation

With the introduction of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) through the VIB 360 system, fleet operators can now shift from traditional fixed OEM schedules to predictive maintenance models.

This change can reduce maintenance costs by up to 30%, eliminate unplanned downtime, enhance reliability, and improve fuel efficiency, directly contributing to lower emissions and greener maritime operations.

As per the news reports, Uday Purohit, Managing Director and CEO of Neptunus Power Plant Services, said, “This MoU with the Indian Register of Shipping reinforces our belief that Indian engineering can shape the global maritime future.” The partnership signals a major step toward making India a hub for advanced, self-reliant marine engineering solutions.
