The Ministry of Railways has launched a trial scheme called "Round Trip Package for Festival Rush" to ease festive season crowding and improve train travel. Passengers booking both onward and return tickets together will get 20% off the base fare for the return journey.

Key Details of the Scheme

  • Eligible Dates:
    • Onward journey: Oct 13–Oct 26, 2025
    • Return journey: Nov 17–Dec 1, 2025
  • Booking Start Date: Aug 14, 2025
  • Applies to all train classes except flexi-fare trains.
  • Only confirmed tickets are eligible.
  • Must be same passengers, class, and route for both trips.
  • Tickets must be booked in the same mode (either online or counter).
  • No extra fare will be charged at charting if applicable.

Restrictions

  • No refunds for tickets under this scheme.
  • No additional concessions, travel passes, vouchers, or PTOs allowed.
  • Advance reservation rules do not apply for the return journey booking.

Why It’s Introduced

The goal is to reduce festive travel congestion, make bookings smoother, and ensure better train utilisation in both directions, including special trains.
