Indian government Appointed N Venkatram as Part-Time Member of SEBI

As per CNBC-TV18 report, in a significant development, the Indian government has appointed N Venkatram, the Country Chair of CDPQ India, as a part-time member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).  

This appointment is effective from December 30, 2025, and will last for 3 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. 

N Venkatram's Role in SEBI 

N Venkatram's inclusion as a part-time member of SEBI is expected to bring valuable insights from his extensive experience in the financial sector. His role will involve contributing to the regulatory framework and ensuring the smooth functioning of the securities market in India. 

Venkatram's background as the Country Chair of CDPQ India, a global investment group, positions him well to offer strategic perspectives to SEBI. His expertise in managing investments and understanding market dynamics will be beneficial to the board. 

Appointment Details 

The official notification regarding his appointment was issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, Financial Market Division. The appointment is made under the powers conferred by clause (d) of Sub-Section (1) of Section 4 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, read with Rule 19A of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Terms and Conditions of Service of Chairman and Members) Rules, 1992.
