IKEA has expanded its South India presence by launching online delivery services in Tamil Nadu, strengthening its omnichannel strategy and access to customers in the state, as per news reports.

Online Expansion and Operations

From Thursday, January 22, Ikea will begin EV-powered home deliveries across key Tamil Nadu cities including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Salem. Customers in these locations will be able to shop from a portfolio of over 6,400 home furnishing solutions.

All orders placed in the state will be serviced through Ikea’s Bengaluru distribution centre, ensuring operational efficiency and quicker fulfilment.

The company highlighted strong early interest from the state, noting that more than 25,000 customers from Tamil Nadu are already enrolled in the Ikea loyalty programme.

This demand reflects growing acceptance of the brand’s home furnishing offerings and supports its decision to scale digital operations in the region.

Management Comments

“Beginning 2026 with our online launch in Tamil Nadu is especially meaningful as we continue to strengthen and grow our presence in South India. We are excited as this allows us to meet customers where they are, support everyday life at home, and build long-term relationships in a market that has already shown strong love for Ikea,” said Patrik Antoni, chief executive officer, Ikea India.

IKEA currently maintains a physical retail presence in 4 major hubs: Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

Beyond these locations, their e-commerce network extends delivery services to several states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Goa and key urban centers across Northern and Central India, such as Jaipur, Lucknow, and Chandigarh.
