ICICI Bank, through its substantial corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, has officially launched the construction phase of a cutting-edge cancer care facility. Collaborating with the esteemed Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), the groundbreaking for a new advanced oncology block took place at the ACTREC campus in Navi Mumbai.
This key announcement was cemented on Sunday, October 19, 2025, when the foundation stone for what is set to be one of India’s premier radiation therapy centres was formally unveiled.
The Bank has allocated ₹625 crore in CSR funding to bring this specific project to fruition, a part of its wider ₹1,800 crore promise to the TMC network across India. Executive Director Sandeep Batra highlighted the national scope of this funding, confirming, “Our commitment of ₹1,800 crore to Tata Memorial Centre for setting up 3 new cancer care hospitals in Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and Mullanpur underscores this commitment.”
The construction, dedicated to advanced radiation oncology, is centrally managed by the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the Bank's CSR division.
ICICI Bank Chairman Pradeep Kumar Sinha shared his confidence in the project's transformative impact, asserting, “Once completed, the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’ will be one of India’s largest centres for radiation therapy. This will significantly augment the availability of advanced radiation therapy to larger sections of society.”
The building's technical specifications reflect a massive push for advanced treatment capacity. Slated for completion by 2027, the immense 'ICICI Foundation Block’ comprises a ground floor, two basements, and eleven stories, encompassing 3.4 lakh square feet of specialised medical space.
It is designed to be technologically superior, equipped with twelve state-of-the-art Linear Accelerators (LINACs), equipment crucial for minimising damage to healthy tissue while treating cancerous cells.
Operationally, the facility will serve 7,200 radiation patients annually, translating to over 200,000 yearly radiation sessions, alongside providing new outpatient consultations and diagnostics to 25,000 people.
