HDFC Bank has issued an important update for its customers, announcing a temporary disruption in UPI services due to scheduled system maintenance. The downtime will take place on September 12, 2025, between 12:00 AM and 1:30 AM, lasting for 90 minutes.

What Services Will Be Impacted?

During the maintenance window, the following services linked to HDFC Bank accounts will not be available:

  • UPI transactions on savings and current accounts
  • RuPay credit card payments via UPI
  • UPI payments through the HDFC Bank Mobile Banking app and third-party apps (TPAPs) supported by HDFC Bank
  • Merchant transactions linked to HDFC Bank accounts

The bank has advised customers to use the PayZapp wallet for essential transactions during this period.

Why the Maintenance?

According to HDFC Bank, the system upgrade is part of ongoing efforts to enhance digital banking services and customer experience. Such maintenance activities, though temporary, are necessary to improve the efficiency and security of UPI and other online banking channels.

Alternative Options for Customers

Customers are reminded that HDFC NetBanking services will remain fully operational during the downtime. Through NetBanking, users can perform over 200 types of transactions anytime and from anywhere, eliminating the need to visit a physical branch. Notably, a NetBanking account is automatically created for every HDFC Bank customer.

Conclusion

While the 90-minute downtime on September 12, 2025 may cause some inconvenience, HDFC Bank’s system maintenance aims to deliver a smoother, safer, and more reliable digital banking experience in the long run. Customers are encouraged to plan transactions accordingly and use NetBanking or PayZapp as alternatives during the maintenance window.
