Gift Nifty Indicates a Slightly Positive Start for Indian Stock Market

On Friday, November 28, 2025, the Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are likely to open slightly higher, tracking mixed signals from global markets. Asian equities were predominantly lower, while US stock futures hovered near unchanged levels during the holiday-shortened week.

On Thursday, domestic markets closed almost flat but with a positive tilt after touching fresh intraday record highs. The Sensex rose 110.87 points (0.13%) to finish at 85,720.38, and the Nifty 50 edged up 10.25 points (0.04%) to settle at 26,215.55.

Gift Nifty Today

Gift Nifty hovered near the 26,420 mark, about 29 points above the previous close of Nifty futures. This signals a mildly positive opening for Indian equities.

Asian Markets

Trading sentiment across Asia was mixed on Friday as US futures remained muted. Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped 0.25%, and the Topix was little changed. South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.95%, while the Kosdaq advanced 1.66%. Futures linked to Hong Kong’s Hang Seng pointed to a weaker start.

Wall Street

US markets remained shut on Thursday for Thanksgiving and will close early at 1 p.m. ET on Friday. Meanwhile, futures traded in a tight range, with Dow Jones futures up 10 points and both S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures posting marginal gains.

Russia-Ukraine Peace Developments

Russian President Vladimir Putin remarked that elements of a draft peace proposal discussed by the US and Ukraine could serve as the basis for future negotiations to end the conflict. However, he added that if such terms are not accepted, Russia is prepared to continue fighting.
