On October 7, 2025, Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are likely to open lower, tracking mixed global cues and cautious investor sentiment on the domestic front. On Monday, the Sensex soared 582.95 points, or 0.72%, to close at 81,790.12, while the Nifty 50 ended 183.40 points, or 0.74% higher, at 25,077.65.

Gift Nifty was seen trading near the 25,156 level, reflecting a discount of around 29 points compared to the previous close of Nifty futures. This suggests a mildly negative start for domestic indices.

Global Market Cues to Watch Today

Asian Markets

Asian equities traded mostly in the green on Tuesday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 continued its upward momentum, hitting a fresh record high for the second consecutive session, rising 0.78%. The broader Topix index gained 0.31%. However, markets in China, Hong Kong, and South Korea remained closed for holidays.

Wall Street

US stock markets ended on a mixed note overnight. While the Nasdaq and S&P 500 registered record closing highs, the Dow Jones edged lower.

  • Dow Jones slipped 63.31 points, or 0.14%, to close at 46,694.97
  • S&P 500 advanced 24.49 points, or 0.36%, to 6,740.28
  • Nasdaq Composite jumped 161.16 points, or 0.71%, to finish at 22,941.67
