FINNIFTY Declines 0.39% as SBI Card Share Price Falls Over 4% on August 18, 2026

The Indian equity benchmark indices, Nifty and Sensex, opened lower and traded mostly in the red on August 18, 2026.
Most of the key sectoral indices were also trading lower, led by Nifty IT, which was down by 1.83% as of 3:13 PM. Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Financial Services (FINNIFTY) relatively outperformed the benchmark indices, trading with a loss of 0.39%.
The Nifty Financial Services Index (FINNIFTY) is designed to reflect the performance of the Indian financial service sector. It comprises companies from segments such as banking, financial institutions, housing finance and insurance.
FINNIFTY Performance on August 18, 2026
FINNIFTY opened lower on August 18, 2026, and marked an intraday low of 26,088.15 and a high of 26,220.10. As of 3:16 PM, the index trading at 26,144.05 down by 103 points or 0.39%.
Over the past one week, the index declined 1.20%, while it is down 2.93% over the past one month. On a YTD basis, FINNIFTY has fallen 5.61%, while over the past one year, the index has declined 1.86%.
Advance Decline of FINNIFTY on August 18, 2026
The advance decline ratio of FINNIFTY on August 18 was in favour of declines, as 13 out of the 20 stocks were trading in the red.
Among the major losers were SBI Card and Shriram Finance, which were down 4.32% and 1.38%, respectively. On the other hand, Axis Bank emerged as the top gainer as it rallied 1.44%.

Conclusion
The FINNIFTY index was trading lower on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. However, it relatively outperformed the frontline indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex, which were down 0.50% and 0.52%, respectively.
