Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net buyers of Indian equities on Monday for the first time in 11 trading sessions, joining domestic institutional investors in supporting a rally in the benchmark indices amid easing geopolitical tensions and a decline in crude oil prices.

FIIs and DIIs Continue Buying Activity

According to the exchange data, FIIs purchased equities worth ₹15,650.20 crore and sold shares worth ₹15,450.15 crore, resulting in net inflows of ₹200.05 crore.

While, Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also remained net buyers, purchasing equities worth ₹3,189.26 crore.

Sensex Trading Higher After Strong Session

On Tuesday, the positive momentum continued, with the benchmark index trading 344.78 points, or 0.45%, higher at 76,609.11 as of 11:14 AM. The Sensex opened at 76,526.77 and touched an intraday high of 76,724.62 and a low of 76,443.34 during the morning session.

On Monday, the BSE Sensex surged 736 points to close at 76,264.

Lower Crude Prices and Global Relief Boost Market Sentiment

Investor sentiment improved after the United States and Iran confirmed a deal aimed at ending the conflict, reducing concerns over a broader regional escalation. The announcement also triggered a correction in global crude oil prices, with Brent crude declining more than 5%.

Lower crude oil prices are generally considered favourable for India as they reduce import costs and help ease inflationary pressures. The decline supported buying in oil marketing companies and other fuel-sensitive sectors, while upstream energy companies remained under pressure.
