The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will observe a trading holiday on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, for Diwali Laxmi Pujan.

However, both exchanges will conduct the special Diwali Muhurat Trading 2025 session on the same day, continuing a long-standing tradition that symbolises prosperity and new beginnings for investors.

The Muhurat Trading session marks an auspicious time to invest, as it is believed that trades made during this period bring long-term wealth and success. While regular trading will remain closed for the day, the exchanges will announce specific Muhurat Trading timings closer to the festival.

Extended Market Break for Diwali Celebrations

After the Diwali Laxmi Pujan holiday on October 21, markets will also remain closed on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, for Balipratipada, another important festive occasion. The two-day break will give traders and investors time to celebrate and prepare for the new financial year traditionally associated with Diwali.

Conclusion

Diwali Muhurat Trading 2025 is more than a symbolic gesture, it represents optimism, renewal, and financial prosperity. As BSE and NSE close for regular trading on October 21, 2025, investors can look forward to the short but meaningful Muhurat Trading window to begin the festive season on an auspicious note. With Balipratipada following on October 22, the markets will reopen after the celebrations, marking the end of the Diwali holiday period.
