As 2025 draws to a close, market participants often review upcoming stock market holidays to plan their trading activities effectively. December typically features multiple festive breaks, but the final month of 2025 comes with a lighter holiday schedule for investors.
Unlike many other months that see several festival-related closures, December 2025 features just a single stock market holiday. Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of Christmas. Trading across equity and derivatives segments will remain suspended for the entire day.
The commodities markets will follow the same schedule. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will remain closed for both the morning and evening sessions, halting all trading activities.
With the holiday falling on a Thursday, investors, especially those involved in settlement-heavy or delivery-based transactions, are expected to plan their trades and fund positions ahead of time. Ensuring adequate margins and tracking settlement cycles in the days leading up to the break will help avoid last-minute disruptions.

While the December holiday calendar is relatively simple to navigate this year, timely preparation remains essential. Staying aware of market closures helps traders and investors maintain smooth operations and avoid unexpected delays during the busy year-end period.
