Coal India Limited (CIL) has taken a strategic step towards enhancing its logistics and infrastructure capabilities. On August 18, 2025, CIL entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Konkan Railway Corporation Limited in Kolkata. The agreement aims to develop and strengthen rail infrastructure for Coal India and its subsidiaries.

Strategic Collaboration for Rail Infrastructure

The MoU reflects a collaborative vision between CIL and Konkan Railway. By leveraging Konkan Railway’s expertise in rail development and operations, Coal India seeks to streamline transportation and improve connectivity across its mining regions. This initiative is expected to enhance efficiency in coal movement, reduce logistics bottlenecks, and support future expansion.

Commitment to Growth and Efficiency B. P. Dubey, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of CIL, confirmed the execution of the MoU and stated that the agreement was signed with the intent of developing rail infrastructure for CIL and its subsidiaries. This step aligns with Coal India’s long-term strategy to strengthen its logistics backbone and ensure sustainable supply chains.
