Closing Bell: Nifty Closed Below 25,000 Mark

On October 16, 2024, the Indian equity indices closed lower.  Nifty 50 was down 0.34% and closed at 24,971.30.  while Sensex ended down 0.39% to 81,501.36. Nifty Bank was up 0.20% to 51,801.05. The volatility indicator Nifty VIX was up by 0.63% to 13.09, reflecting a rise in volatility.

Sectoral Performance

On October 16, Nifty Realty and Nifty Oil & Gas ended in green with a rise of 0.55% and 0.23%, respectively. Nifty Auto and Nifty IT fell the most with a drop of 1.27% and 1.17%, respectively. 

Top Gainer and Losers

HDFC Life, Dr Reddy, Grasim, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Auto were the top gainers for the day, while, Trent, M&M, Infosys, Hero Motocorp, and Adani Ports were the top losers on the NSE.

Oil Prices 

On October 16, 2024, at 04:46 PM, Brent Crude stood at $73.93, reflecting a fall of 0.43%.
