Budget 2025, February 01: Markets to Remain Open – Know the Trading Timings

The Union Budget for 2025 is scheduled for presentation on Saturday, February 01, 2025. While markets typically remain closed on weekends, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced that stock exchanges will operate as usual to accommodate trading activity linked to Budget developments.
This isn’t the first instance of markets operating on a Saturday for the Union Budget. Similar cases occurred in 2015 when the Budget was presented on February 28, a Saturday, and the markets remained open. However, in 2016-2017, the Budget presentation on February 27 (Saturday) did not involve trading activity.
Capital Market Segment: Timings and Sessions
The NSE has confirmed that the capital market segment will operate under regular timings:
- Pre-Open Session: 09:00 hrs to 09:08 hrs
- Normal Trading: 09:15 hrs to 15:30 hrs
- Block Deals & Call Auctions: Scheduled to support increased trading activity related to Budget announcements.
Futures & Options Segment: Trading Schedule
For the F&O segment, trading will follow standard hours:
- Market Open: 09:15 hrs
- Market Close: 15:30 hrs
- Trade Modifications End Time: 16:15 hrs
Commodity Derivatives Segment: Trading Hours
Commodity derivatives trading will also remain open, enabling investors to manage positions in response to Budget updates:
- Market Hours: 09:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs
- Trade Modifications Allowed Until: 17:15 hrs
