Bharti Airtel has announced a strategic partnership with Google to launch India’s first mega Artificial Intelligence hub and state-of-the-art data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, aiming to shape the country’s future digital and AI infrastructure.
The collaboration between Bharti Airtel and Google will see an investment of $15 billion from 2026 to 2030. This groundbreaking project includes gigawatt-scale data centre operations powered by sustainable energy sources, catering to high-end AI workloads within India. It will also incorporate an advanced subsea network, seamlessly connected via a strategically located cable landing station.
Airtel will develop robust intra-city and inter-city fibre networks across Visakhapatnam and beyond. Additionally, the cable landing station will host Google's latest international submarine cables. This will improve network latency, enhance speed for Google services, and reinforce digital infrastructure across India.
In collaboration with AdaniConneX and other ecosystem players, this AI hub will present an interoperable platform for businesses and developers. It will host Google's full AI stack, enabling easy access to cutting-edge tools and systems for innovation and enterprise scalability.

As per the press release, Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel Limited, said, “This partnership with Google is a defining moment in India’s digital future. By combining world-class AI infrastructure with our nation’s extraordinary talent and expanding global connectivity, we are laying the foundation for India to become a leader in the AI-driven era.”
As per the press release, Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud, said, “Meeting the demands of India’s AI Mission requires cutting-edge infrastructure, computational power and ubiquitous connectivity. Working with Airtel, we will deliver next-generation AI services and create the essential digital backbone required to power inclusive growth across India.”
