Reliance Jio’s business extends beyond mobile connectivity and 5G services into a range of digital and enterprise-focused businesses. Most Indians recognise Jio as a telecom operator, but it is a diversified enterprise.

Ahead of Jio IPO, here’s a look at Jio’s presence beyond telecom operations.

From AI to IoT: What Jio’s Digital Businesses Do

Jio’s digital businesses operate across distinct technology segments, each addressing specific digital and enterprise requirements. Here’s a glimpse at the different digital businesses and what they do:

  • Jio Haptik: Develops conversational AI solutions, including chatbots and virtual assistants, to help businesses automate customer interactions and support.

  • Reverie Language Technologies: Develops language technology solutions that enable digital platforms and services to support multiple Indian languages.

  • Radisys: Provides open telecom software, hardware platforms and systems integration services that support telecommunications networks and digital infrastructure.

  • Jio Things: Focuses on Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, connecting devices and enabling businesses to monitor and manage connected systems.

  • Accops: Provides secure remote access, virtual desktop infrastructure and digital workspace solutions, allowing organisations to give employees access to applications and systems.

  • Jio Brain: An AI and machine learning platform designed to integrate AI capabilities into telecom networks and enterprise IT environments, including network optimisation and automation.

  • JioThings’ Smart Mobility Solutions: Include connected vehicle technologies such as digital instrument clusters, vehicle analytics and IoT-enabled solutions for electric two-wheelers.

These businesses represent different capabilities within Jio’s portfolio, spanning customer engagement, language computing, telecommunications infrastructure, connected technologies, and enterprise security.

How do These Businesses fit Jio’s Enterprise Strategy?

Jio Platforms’ enterprise strategy extends beyond providing connectivity to offering a broader range of digital solutions that address different business requirements. Its telecom infrastructure provides the foundation for network access and data transmission, while its technology businesses add capabilities across areas such as artificial intelligence, customer engagement, IoT, network software, and cybersecurity.

These capabilities serve distinct but complementary purposes such as, conversational AI can help businesses manage customer interactions, IoT solutions enable connected devices, and secure digital workspace tools to support access to enterprise applications.

In the context of Jio Platforms’ proposed IPO, this broader portfolio provides an additional dimension to understanding the company’s business beyond its telecom subscriber base.

Jio Platforms IPO Details

As per the RHP, the Jio Platforms IPO is expected to raise ₹30,213 crore, with a reported price band of ₹1,065–₹1,119 per share. The proposed issue comprises 27 crore fresh equity shares, with no Offer for Sale (OFS), and each share has a face value of ₹10.

Conclusion

Jio Platforms’ digital businesses reflect the diversity of its operations beyond mobile connectivity, spanning AI, IoT, language technology and enterprise software. As the company moves towards its proposed IPO, these businesses offer another perspective on its overall business model.
