BEML Bags $1 Million Rail and Metro Contract in Malaysia; Share Price Surges Over 2%

BEML Limited has received its first overseas contract in the rail and metro sector. The agreement, valued at $1 million, was awarded by Malaysia for the retrofit and reconditioning of the Mass Rapid Transport System. The company informed the stock exchanges about the development on August 9, 2025.
The work involves upgrading and restoring components of Malaysia’s metro system to maintain operational standards. This project is part of BEML’s rail and metro division’s regular business activities and is its first such order outside India.
Manufacturing and Network
BEML has manufacturing facilities located in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysuru, and Palakkad. These are supported by research and development units and a nationwide sales and service network to meet production and maintenance requirements.
In July 2025, BEML opened a warehousing facility at the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bengaluru. The warehouse covers 0.12 acres and will support logistics needs as well as provide services to other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Tier-1, and Tier-2 suppliers.
The facility at the Aerospace SEZ is intended to serve as a base for future developments in aerospace technology. BEML has stated plans to develop a Centre of Excellence for Aerospace Technologies at the site to strengthen supply chain activities in the sector.

Conclusion
The Malaysian contract is the first international order for BEML’s rail and metro division. Alongside its domestic operations, the company has added new infrastructure to support future projects in both rail and aerospace.
