All public and private sector banks, including State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and others, remain closed on Sunday, July 26, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.

Banks are closed on all Sundays, while the second and fourth Saturdays are also official bank holidays. Although branches remain shut, customers can continue using digital banking services.

Will Banks Remain Open This Week?

Yes. There are no additional bank holidays scheduled this week.

Since Saturday, August 1, is the first Saturday of the month, banks across India will remain open. There are also no state-specific holidays during the week, so customers can visit bank branches on all 6 working days.

Digital Banking Services Will Continue

Even on bank holidays, customers can access several banking services through digital channels, including:

  • UPI payments and money transfers
  • Mobile banking apps
  • Internet banking
  • ATM cash withdrawals
  • Fund transfers and bill payments 

These services are available round the clock, except during scheduled maintenance announced by banks.

Apart from regular weekend holidays, banks will remain closed in different states on several occasions in August:

  • August 4 (Tuesday): Ker Puja – Tripura
  • August 8 (Saturday): Tendong Lho Rum Faat – Sikkim
  • August 13 (Thursday): Patriot Day – Manipur
  • August 15 (Saturday): Independence Day – Nationwide
  • August 19 (Wednesday): Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur's Birth Anniversary – Tripura
  • August 25 (Tuesday): Milad-Un-Nabi/First Onam – Kerala and Andhra Pradesh
  • August 26 (Wednesday): Id-E-Milad, Baravafat, Thiruvonam and other regional holidays in several states
  • August 28 (Friday): Raksha Bandhan – Observed in multiple states 

Weekend Bank Holidays in August

Banks will also remain closed on the following weekends:

  • August 2 (Sunday)
  • August 8 (Second Saturday)
  • August 9 (Sunday)
  • August 16 (Sunday)
  • August 22 (Fourth Saturday)
  • August 23 (Sunday)
  • August 30 (Sunday) 

Bank Working Hours

On working days, most bank branches are open for customer services from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, though timings may vary slightly depending on the branch.

Conclusion

Apart from the regular Sunday holiday on July 26, there are no additional bank holidays this week, and banks will remain open on all 6 working days. Customers who need branch services can visit their banks as usual, while digital banking facilities such as UPI, mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs will continue to operate throughout the week, including on holidays.
