AM/NS India Secures 30-Year Concession to Mechanise Paradip Port Berth

AMNS Paradip Logistics Pvt Ltd (APLPL), a special purpose vehicle of AM/NS India, has secured a 30-year concession from Paradip Port Authority for the mechanisation of the CQ-III berth, as per news reports. The berth will be used to handle dry bulk cargo on a captive basis.
The Award of Concession was handed over by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on August 21, 2026.
Conveyor to Link Pellet Plant with Berth
The setup will allow APLPL to handle iron ore pellet shipments through a fully mechanised conveyor system. The conveyor will connect AM/NS India's pellet plant complex directly with the berth at Paradip Port.
The source does not give the investment planned for the project or the cargo-handling capacity of the berth.
Paradip-Hazira Pellet Movement
AM/NS India already moves iron ore pellets from Paradip to Hazira through coastal shipping. The company describes this as an established and environmentally sustainable way of transporting the material.
The captive use of CQ-III will provide a direct link between the pellet plant and the port as part of this supply chain.
Focus on Logistics and Port Operations
APLPL said the concession will help improve cargo movement and support AM/NS India's operational efficiency. It also described the arrangement as part of its efforts to strengthen logistics capabilities and modernise port operations.
The concession is in line with the central government's policy of promoting coastal shipping as a fuel-efficient, economical and environment-friendly mode of transport.
