Air India has entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Indian Army to promote skill development, employment generation and community welfare initiatives for members of the armed forces ecosystem.

The collaboration focuses on improving career opportunities for Veer Naris and their families while also enhancing vocational education infrastructure for specially abled children studying in Army-supported institutions.

The initiative forms part of a broader effort to improve employability and create sustainable livelihood opportunities within the defence community.

Employment Opportunities for Veer Naris and Their Families

As part of the agreement, Air India will facilitate recruitment opportunities through Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) for Veer Naris and their children.

The programme aims to offer positions across various airport operations functions, including customer service, load and control operations, and ramp handling activities.

Alongside recruitment, selected candidates will receive industry-oriented vocational training designed to prepare them for long-term careers in the aviation sector.

The initiative is expected to support economic empowerment and create structured pathways for employment within the aviation industry.

Vocational Infrastructure to Be Developed in ASHA Schools

Another key aspect of the partnership involves strengthening vocational learning facilities in ASHA (Army Special Help and Association) Schools, which cater to specially abled children of serving and retired defence personnel as well as civilians residing in cantonment areas.

Under the programme, vocational laboratories will be established in 25 ASHA Schools. The project has already begun with a pilot phase covering 10 schools, while the remaining institutions will be included in subsequent stages.

The facilities will offer practical learning opportunities across a range of disciplines, including creative arts, music, sports, photography, hospitality, wellness services, tailoring, technical skills and other vocational subjects.

Focus on Inclusive Development

As per press release, commenting on the initiative, P Balaji, Group Head Governance, Risk, Compliance and Corporate Affairs, Air India, said, "Air India’s collaboration with the Indian Army reflects a shared purpose - to contribute to a broader nation-building effort.

At its core, both the initiatives are centred around strengthening skills, enabling dignity through opportunity, and fostering empowerment. We are committed to working together and creating a scalable model that delivers sustained impact."

The collaboration aligns with ongoing efforts to encourage workforce participation, skill enhancement and social inclusion through targeted programmes aimed at underserved communities.
