Air India has opened its flagship Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, expanding its premium ground experience for eligible international and domestic travellers.

Flagship Maharaja Lounge opens at Delhi Terminal 3

The Maharaja Lounge was unveiled on February 6, 2026, and will be accessible to Business Class and First Class passengers, Gold and Platinum Maharaja Club members, and eligible Star Alliance travellers from February 16, 2026. The lounge is located within the international departures area of Terminal 3.

Design inspired by Indian heritage

The lounge reflects Air India’s updated branding and interior design approach. Designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates, the space combines Indian cultural elements with a contemporary layout. Artworks placed across the lounge highlight themes drawn from Indian heritage and aviation history.

Multiple zones for different passenger needs

The Maharaja Lounge is divided into dedicated zones to support varied traveller requirements. Quiet areas are available for relaxation or work, while other sections are designed for social interaction. This layout allows passengers to select spaces based on personal preference during transit.

Key facilities and themed sections

Notable areas include The Aviator’s Bar, inspired by JRD Tata’s 1932 flight from Karachi to Bombay. The Globetrotter’s Study provides seating, books, power outlets and internet access. The Serenity Area features individual recliners for rest.

First Class exclusive offerings

The First Class section includes the Crystal Bar, serving champagne and cocktails, along with seating overlooking the airport tarmac. Private sleep suites are also available for First Class passengers for pre flight rest.

Dining and personalised elements

Dining options include Indian and international cuisines with live cooking stations. A Beverage on Wheels service offers seat side cocktails, while a dedicated tea programme serves freshly brewed tea with snacks. Guests can also take Maharaja themed postcards as keepsakes.

Conclusion

The opening of the Maharaja Lounge at Delhi Airport Terminal 3 adds a new premium facility for Air India’s eligible passengers, with structured spaces, dining options and design elements aligned with the airline’s updated identity.
