MakeMyTrip has entered into a partnership with Adani Airport Holdings to enhance the travel experience by integrating duty-free shopping with its booking platform, as per The PTI report.

Integration Of Travel and Retail Services

Under this collaboration, international passengers will be able to explore and reserve duty-free items directly through the MakeMyTrip platform.

The feature allows travellers to plan purchases either before departure or upon arrival, streamlining the airport shopping experience.

Presence Across Key Airports

The service will be available at airports operated by Adani Airport Holdings, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram, covering multiple high-traffic international gateways.

Phased Expansion Plan

It has been indicated that the current offering is just the initial phase, with additional services expected to be introduced gradually.

This points to a broader integration of travel services with airport-based retail ecosystems.

Leadership Commentary

Arun Bansal, CEO, AAHL, mentioned, “By enabling duty-free pre-booking through MakeMyTrip, we are bringing more convenience to international travellers. The integration allows travellers to plan purchases in advance, save time at the airport, and access curated offers, making the duty-free experience simpler and more rewarding.”

Rajesh Magow, co-founder and group CEO, MakeMyTrip, mentioned, “This association is a natural extension of our Connected Trips strategy, which is centred on building a seamless, end-to-end travel experience.”

Strategic Implication

The move reflects a growing trend of combining travel booking with ancillary services to enhance customer engagement.

For MakeMyTrip, integrating duty-free shopping into its platform could open up new monetisation avenues while improving overall user experience.
