Adani Enterprises Ltd, through its subsidiary Adani Land Defence Systems and Technologies, has acquired a 51% equity stake in PLR Systems. The strategic acquisition aims to strengthen India's defence manufacturing capabilities under the government's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
PLR Systems Private Limited is India’s first private sector company to set up a small arms manufacturing facility under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It was founded as a joint venture between Adani Defence & Aerospace, a division of the Adani Group and Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), a global leader in the design and production of combat-proven small arms.
This collaboration aims to manufacture high-performance small arms for the Indian armed forces, paramilitary forces, and law enforcement agencies. The facility is located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and produces a range of advanced weapon systems, including assault rifles, sniper rifles, and carbines.
The Adani Group, known predominantly for its presence in infrastructure, energy, and logistics, made a bold foray into the defence sector in recent years through Adani Defence & Aerospace. As part of its broader ambition to support indigenous defence production and reduce reliance on imports, Adani has been building an integrated defence manufacturing ecosystem.
Acquiring a majority stake in PLR Systems gave Adani a strong foothold in the small arms segment, one that is critical to national security and increasingly in demand.
Here is the chain of ownership and partnership:

The connection between Adani Group and PLR Systems is not merely financial; it represents a powerful alignment of industrial capability, global technology, and national defence objectives. With Adani’s growing investments in defence and aerospace, and PLR’s access to globally respected arms technology through IWI, the partnership stands as a model for how Indian conglomerates can meaningfully contribute to national security.
As geopolitical pressures mount and the push for indigenous defence manufacturing continues, Adani’s partnership with PLR Systems is set to play a key role in shaping the future of India’s military preparedness.
