Women Empowerment: President Murmu Flags Off 4 Delhi Schemes; ₹129 Crore LPG Aid & Pink Transport Card Unveiled

President Droupadi Murmu launched 4 women focused welfare schemes of the Delhi government on March 2, 2026, at a public event in New Delhi, as per PTI report.
The initiatives include transport benefits, financial assistance, and direct support measures aimed at improving women’s access to mobility and household resources.
Details of the 4 Women Welfare Schemes Launched in Delhi
At the “Sashakt Nari, Samriddh Delhi” programme held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, the President launched the Pink National Common Mobility Card along with 3 other schemes.
The mobility card is designed to support free bus travel and integrated transport access for women across the capital. The initiative seeks to enhance independence and safety through streamlined public transport access.
During the event, she stated that improved transport access can contribute to strengthening women’s participation in education, employment, and public life.
Free LPG Cylinders Scheme with ₹129 Crore Allocation
The President also introduced a scheme providing 2 free LPG cylinders annually to ration card holding families during Holi and Diwali.
The total allocation for the benefit stands at ₹129 crore. The financial support will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer.
The measure is aimed at supporting eligible households with cooking fuel expenses during major festivals.

Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana and Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar Initiative
Among the schemes launched were the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana and the “Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar” initiative. These programmes focus on financial empowerment and structured support mechanisms for women and girls in Delhi.
The schemes are intended to provide structured financial benefits and encourage greater economic participation among women.

Addressing the gathering, the President said that empowered women with decision making freedom can influence social and national development.
She emphasised that women’s empowerment requires collective responsibility from both government and society.
