Starting Friday, August 1, Aarti Industries Ltd., Birlasoft Ltd., Hindustan Copper Ltd., Mahanagar Gas Ltd., and Piramal Enterprises Ltd. will no longer be available for trading in the futures and options (F&O) segment. This change follows the initial communication by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in May 2025 this year. The adjustment will coincide with the launch of a new F&O series beginning August 1.

Why These Stocks Are Being Excluded?

As per NSE norms, a stock is removed from the derivatives segment if it fails to meet certain eligibility requirements across all exchanges. These include performance benchmarks in the cash market over the preceding six months.

Key Criteria for F&O Inclusion

A stock may be excluded from F&O trading if it does not meet the following conditions:

  • Not among the top 500 stocks by average daily market capitalisation and average daily traded value (on a rolling six-month basis).
  • Median quarter-sigma value over the past six months is below ₹75 lakh.
  • Market Wide Position Limit (MWPL) is less than ₹1,500 crore.
  • Average daily delivery value in the cash market is under ₹35 lakh.

Re-inclusion to F&O Series Rules

Once a stock is excluded from the F&O segment, it is not eligible for re-entry for one year. For consideration, it must consistently meet all eligibility criteria for six consecutive months.

  • Birlasoft dropped 6%, ending at the day's low.
