VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has opened its first showroom in India, as per news reports. The outlet ‘VinFast Surat’ is located in Piplod, Surat, Gujarat, and spans 3,000 sq. ft. It is operated by Chandan Car, a local automotive retail company. This is the company's entry into the Indian EV market. After Elon Musk's long-awaited inauguration of the Tesla showroom in Mumbai, the company quickly entered the Indian market.
VinFast plans to set up 35 dealerships across more than 27 cities in India by the end of 2025, as per an ANI report. The Surat showroom is the first step in this expansion. The company is also working on establishing a vehicle assembly plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
The Surat dealership will display 2 upcoming electric SUVs, VF 6 and VF 7. India will be the first country to receive the right-hand drive versions of both models. These vehicles are expected to be locally assembled once the Tamil Nadu plant becomes operational.
Pre-bookings for the VF 6 and VF 7 opened on July 15, 2025. Customers can book the models either at the showroom or online through VinFastAuto.in. The booking amount is ₹21,000 and is fully refundable. The VF 6 is likely to be priced between ₹18 lakh and ₹24 lakh, while the VF 7 is expected to cost between ₹30 lakh and ₹35 lakh, as per news reports.
VinFast has partnered with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to support its EV operations in India. These collaborations will help with nationwide charging networks and after-sales services. The company has also joined hands with BatX Energies for battery recycling and related sustainability plans.
