The Tripura government has issued a set of new measures aimed at revising existing benefits and introducing fresh schemes, as per news reports. The announcements were made by Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during a press briefing at the State Secretariat on Friday.
The allowance for persons with disabilities has been revised. Individuals with more than 60% disability will now receive ₹5,000 per month, compared to the earlier amount of ₹2,000. A valid disability certificate will continue to be a requirement for availing the benefit. The change is expected to impact a significant number of beneficiaries across the state.
The government has also approved the introduction of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana. This program will provide daughters of Antyodaya families with a ₹50,000 grant to support marriage expenses. The scheme has been cleared as part of the measures announced this week and will apply only to families identified under the Antyodaya category.
Under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Shraddhanjali Yojana, financial support for last rites has been revised. Families belonging to the Antyodaya group will now receive ₹10,000 in case of the death of a family member. Previously, the amount available under this scheme stood at ₹2,000, making this a notable increase.
In addition to welfare schemes, the government has approved recruitment for four Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project. The recruitment process will be conducted through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). Applications and selection will be overseen under standard procedures followed by the commission.
