Sikkim DA Hike: Dearness Allowance Raised by 2% for State Government Employees

Sikkim government employees and pensioners will get a 2 percentage-point increase in their Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), as per Livemint news reports citing PTI report.
Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang announced the hike on August 15 during the Independence Day celebrations at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok.
DA Rate Raised to 60%
Sikkim had raised DA and DR from 55% to 58% with effect from July 1, 2025. The latest increase will take the rate to 60%, subject to the state government's formal order.
Employees and Pensioners to Benefit
The increase will apply to eligible Sikkim government employees and pensioners covered under the revised pay structure.
DA is paid to serving employees, while pensioners receive the corresponding benefit through Dearness Relief. The actual increase in monthly income will depend on the individual's basic pay or basic pension.
What Is Dearness Allowance?
Dearness Allowance is paid to government employees to help deal with the impact of rising prices. It is calculated as a percentage of basic pay.
For pensioners, the equivalent benefit is called Dearness Relief. This means a 2 percentage-point increase will result in different increases in rupee terms for different employees and pensioners.
