The Small Industries Development Bank of India has introduced a television programme, ‘MSME Samvaad’, in partnership with Prasar Bharati, as per news reports.

It is being aired on Doordarshan National and regional channels at 7:00 PM on the second and fourth Saturdays. The programme is structured around studio-led discussions and segment-based content.

Focus Areas

The programme deals with routine business issues faced by MSMEs, including access to finance, regulatory compliance, digital adoption, and market access. It also covers topics such as sustainability, innovation, and enterprise growth.

The approach remains factual, with emphasis on explaining processes and available mechanisms.

Case-Based Examples

Episodes include references to businesses managing working capital through Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) platforms. Other segments point to firms improving cash flow cycles and using digital lending channels to support expansion.

Some cases indicate growth in turnover from about ₹20 crore to over ₹100 crore following changes in financing and market access practices.

Participation and Format

The programme includes inputs from officials, policymakers, industry representatives, and business operators. It also features an “Ask the Expert” segment, where viewer queries are taken up during the broadcast.

This element reflects commonly reported issues across sectors and geographies.

Sector Context

MSMEs account for a substantial share of employment, exports and production in India. At the same time, challenges such as delayed payments, limited access to formal credit, and compliance requirements continue to be reported.

The programme content aligns with these existing conditions.
