SBICAPS Appointed as Consultant for Hyderabad Metro Phase-I Valuation After Telangana CM's Delhi Meet

SBICAPS has been selected as the consultant to conduct a comprehensive study on the valuation of Hyderabad Metro Phase-I.  

This decision follows discussions between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Union Ministers in New Delhi regarding the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I and the proposed Phase-II project as per ANI news report. 

Consultant Appointment and Meeting Details 

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Union Minister for Urban Affairs Manohar Lal and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over two consecutive days in New Delhi. The discussions focused on the hurdles facing the takeover of Metro Rail Phase-I and the launch of Metro Phase-II.  

On June 23, 2026, the CM held further discussions with Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy. 

During a meeting at Manohar Lal's residence, the Chief Minister and Union Ministers reached a consensus to appoint a consultant. SBICAPS was chosen to study the valuation of Hyderabad Metro Phase-I, raise loans required for the takeover, and select lending agencies. The study will also cover Metro Rail expansion, construction cost, and financing for Metro Phase-II. 

Coordination and Study Objectives 

A senior official from the Union government and the Special Chief Secretary of the State Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department will be appointed as representatives for coordination during the study by SBICAPS. These officials will work together to facilitate the speedy completion of the study and official processes. 

Future Course of Action 

The state government and the Centre will decide the future course of action based on the report submitted by SBICAPS. The consultant's study will provide insights into the valuation of Metro Rail Phase-I, the expansion of Phase-II, and other related matters.
