Rajasthan has crossed 200,000 rooftop solar installations under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, according to reports citing officials from the state energy department.
The state has installed 200,416 rooftop solar systems with a combined generation capacity of 771 MW since the scheme was introduced around 26 months ago.
Data released by the department showed that April has recorded the highest monthly installation figures so far.
During the month, 22,822 rooftop solar systems were added across the state. In February this year, the average monthly installation figure was around 14,000 systems.
Under the scheme, eligible consumers receive a subsidy of ₹78,000 from the central government for rooftop solar installations.
The Rajasthan government is also providing an additional subsidy of ₹17,000 under the Chief Minister’s Free Electricity Scheme for households registered under the 150-unit free electricity benefit.
The state government launched the free electricity scheme for domestic consumers in October 2025.
According to the energy department, subsidy transfers exceeding ₹1,354 crore have been made by the Centre to consumers in Rajasthan for rooftop solar installations.
Jaipur reported the highest number of rooftop solar installations in the state at 41,296 systems. Sri Ganganagar followed with 19,135 installations, while Sikar recorded 12,104 rooftop systems.
Hanumangarh accounted for 11,530 installations and Jhunjhunu reported 10,185 systems. Officials said installations have continued to rise across urban and semi-urban districts during the current year.
Rajasthan currently ranks fifth in the country under the scheme. Gujarat has reported around 661,000 rooftop solar installations, followed by Maharashtra with 569,000 and Uttar Pradesh with 525,000 systems.
Kerala has recorded nearly 239,000 installations, while Rajasthan has crossed the 200,000 mark. The scheme is aimed at increasing household-level solar power generation and reducing dependence on conventional electricity supply.
