To enhance passenger convenience, Indian Railways has introduced multiple digital solutions alongside traditional ticket booking counters. These initiatives are designed to simplify access to both reserved and unreserved ticketing services.

RailOne App: Ticketing at Your Fingertips

A key innovation is the RailOne App, which allows passengers to book both reserved and unreserved tickets directly via their mobile phones. By integrating the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), the app brings comprehensive ticketing services into a single platform.

The application also incorporates advanced security and privacy features, ensuring a safe and reliable user experience.

Usage and Adoption

As of March 15, 2026, the RailOne App has achieved around 2.57 crore downloads. On a daily basis, an average of 7.64 lakh tickets, covering both reserved and unreserved categories, are booked through the platform, reflecting strong user adoption.

All-in-One Railway Services Platform

Beyond ticket booking, the app consolidates several passenger-facing services, including train enquiries, PNR status checks, platform ticket purchases, and grievance redressal through RailMadad. These services are accessible through a single login, offering a seamless and integrated experience.

The RailOne App is available for download on both Android Play Store and Apple App Store, with a simple and user-friendly registration process.

Online Booking Dominance via IRCTC

Passengers can also book reserved tickets through the website and mobile app of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation. Currently, nearly 88% of reserved tickets are being booked online, highlighting the growing preference for digital channels.

Agent Network for Wider Accessibility

To ensure inclusive access, Indian Railways continues to operate through an extensive network of authorised agents:

For Unreserved Tickets:

  • Halt Agents
  • Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sevaks (JTBS)
  • Station Ticket Booking Agents (STBA)
  • M-UTS Sahayaks

For Both Reserved and Unreserved Tickets:

  • Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra Licensees (YTSK)

This multi-channel approach, combining digital platforms with on-ground agents, ensures that ticket booking remains accessible, efficient, and user-friendly for passengers across the country.
