Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his two-day Maharashtra visit on Wednesday with the inauguration of key infrastructure projects, including the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Mumbai Metro Line 3, and the launch of the Mumbai One app, India’s first integrated mobility platform.
PM Modi will inaugurate Phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), built at a cost of ₹19,650 crore. Developed under the Public-Private Partnership model, NMIA is India’s largest greenfield airport project. The airport will operate alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), reducing congestion and positioning Mumbai as part of the global multi-airport network.
The Prime Minister will also undertake a walkthrough of the newly constructed terminal and dedicate several associated infrastructure projects to the nation. The NMIA project represents a major boost to connectivity and logistics in western India.
PM Modi will also inaugurate Phase 2B of the Mumbai Metro Line 3, running from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade. Constructed at a cost of ₹12,200 crore, this underground stretch forms a vital part of the city’s expanding metro network.
The Prime Minister will further dedicate the entire ₹37,270 crore Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, to the nation, marking a milestone in Mumbai’s urban mobility transformation.

During the visit, PM Modi will launch the Mumbai One app, a unified digital platform designed to integrate services across 11 public transport operators. The app will allow commuters to purchase mobile tickets, access real-time transport updates, and plan journeys seamlessly. This initiative aims to simplify travel across buses, metros, and suburban trains through a single interface.
Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate the Short-Term Employability Program (STEP), an initiative of the Maharashtra Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation. The programme will be implemented in 400 government ITIs and 150 Government Technical High Schools, focusing on enhancing employability through industry-aligned skill training.
PM Modi’s inauguration of the Navi Mumbai International Airport and Metro Line 3, along with the launch of the Mumbai One app and the STEP programme, marks a major stride in Maharashtra’s infrastructure and digital mobility landscape. These developments are set to improve connectivity, enhance commuter experience, and strengthen the region’s skill ecosystem.
