PM Modi Inaugurates SEMICON India 2026 Today (September 17, 2026) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi

SEMICON India 2026 will be held at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, from September 17 to September 19, 2026, as per news reports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the fifth edition of the event today (September 17, 2026). 

The exhibition has more than 600 exhibitors, including about 300 companies from outside India. Delegations from over 50 countries are expected at the three-day event. 

What the Exhibition Includes 

The exhibition has been spread across 15,000 square metres this year. It has six country pavilions from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and Sweden, besides 12 state government pavilions. 

The event is being held with the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”. The programme covers semiconductor manufacturing, chip design, advanced packaging, materials, equipment, electronics, artificial intelligence and supply chain issues. 

Start-Ups and Students 

About 40 start-ups will be featured in the Startup Pavilion. There are separate sections for students, workforce development, innovation and women in the semiconductor industry. 

A new ‘Sand to Silicon to Systems’ Value Chain Experience has been included in the exhibition. It follows the semiconductor chain from materials and manufacturing through advanced packaging and chip design to electronics and systems. 

The programme also has a start-up pitch competition, student hackathon, and innovation showcase. 

Conference Programme 

More than 150 speakers are expected across keynote sessions, panel discussions, and strategic sessions. Research and development, talent development, semiconductor technology, materials and equipment are among the subjects on the agenda. 

SEMICON India 2026 is being jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and SEMI. 

Industry Roundtable Held 

A day before the event, Prime Minister Modi held a roundtable with executives and representatives from companies including Micron, Infineon, Applied Materials, ASML, AMD, Intel, Tata Electronics, Foxconn, Lam Research, NXP and IBM Research. 

The discussion included industry involvement in skilling and innovation. AI and quantum computing were also among the areas discussed.

Conclusion 

The fifth edition of SEMICON India runs until September 19. Alongside the exhibition, the programme includes industry discussions, start-up events, student activities, and sessions on semiconductor technology and skills.
